Voice memos

Talk it through. Read it back.

Some thinking happens out loud. Record a memo in the browser, and soon on your phone, and trepil writes it up, to-dos and all, next to your meetings.

From a thought to a note.

  1. Press record

In the web app, in any browser, and soon on iPhone. A small pill shows the clock, with Discard and Stop.

  2. Talk it through

As long as you need, up to 80 minutes. Walk, pace, think out loud. Nobody is waiting for a tidy sentence.

  3. Read it back

Stop, and a moment later the memo is a note: what you said, written up, with the to-dos pulled out.

The ums go. The ideas stay.

A memo comes back as a note, not a transcript to wade through. What you meant, in order, with anything you said you'd do pulled out as a to-do.

  • To-dos land with the rest of your checklist, from every meeting.
  • Ask finds a memo the same way it finds a meeting.
  • Record on the phone, read it on your Mac or PC.

For the thinking between meetings.

After a callWhat you'd tell your team if they'd been there, while it's fresh.

On a walkThe plan for next week, talked out before you sit down to write it.

Before a meetingThe three points you want to make, said once so you remember them.

At the end of the dayWhat got done and what's left, so tomorrow starts from a list.

Where can I record a memo?

In the web app, in any modern browser, and soon on iPhone. The memo becomes a note you can open anywhere, written up with its to-dos.

How long can a memo be?

Up to 80 minutes each, and up to 4 hours of memos a day.

Can I play the recording back?

A voice memo, yes, while its recording is kept: 30 days by default, and in Settings you can keep it for as long as you keep the memo. Meeting audio is deleted once the meeting is written up, so the transcript is what you go back to.

Do you keep my recordings?

Not a meeting's. Its audio is uploaded so it can be transcribed, then deleted for good as soon as the meeting is written up. A voice memo's recording is kept for 30 days so you can play it back, and in Settings you can have it deleted as soon as its note is written, or kept for as long as you keep the memo. The note and its transcript stay either way.
